Boulder Lodge is 3 story accommodation which consists of  a kitchen cum dining and living area, 2 en-suite bedrooms and kids bedroom and play area. The lodge is equipped with all the modern conveniences including a large slow combustion wood fired heater, television, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, front loading washing machine and gas stove top and gas oven and even a bar fridge at the tree top level deck where you can enjoy a glass of wine with the spectacular views overlooking Black Swamp and Barney Downs and spectacular views of the Great Dividing Range. The Boulder Lodge Story

Boulder Lodge was started by a man called Jim Dunton. extremely clever with his hands he had a few practice runs, building small buildings on the property out of local stone and then, Jim already in his 70’s, took up the project to build a residence on a hill at the property among the granite boulders. He decided to use a boulder as one side wall for the building and make up the other three with granite rocks and concrete. This was in about 1990 and after a number of years the physical work became too much for him and he became too old to complete the building himself. On his death, the Brown and Muller families decided to finish the building and turn it into unique accommodation in the New England, Northern Tablelands which is just over the border from the Granite Belt in South East Queensland.   See more…
